10:25 a.m. We've paid to stay here at the campground another week.
Jasper is presently building one of those tipi shaped fires, straight out of a boy scout handbook, and discussing the possible racial implications of flaming tipis.
His masterpiece is now finished, but we don't have anything to cook right now, so it will get to sit there, unlit, and looking artistic until the next meal.
Jasper's voice sounds a little better today, but Nika is loosing her voice.
. There are two middle aged women in jeans and matching green T-shirts walking laps around the campground.
Ula is laying on top of our new cooler, yelling for her sister, "Nika! Nika! Nika!"
Nika, right now, is pulling up clovers and handing them to me.
We spent all day yesterday looking at vans. The most promising one we found was a mini-van (1985 Chrysler). The proposal the dealer gave us was that he take our car as a trade-in and we still have to come up with $2500.
4:24 p.m.
I have quite a nice little Blaze going here, somewhat reminiscent
of the forest fire scene from Bambi. I put a pot of water on the grill just as I sat down to write this, and it is already simmering. This is not Jasper's flaming tipi. That got burned to make popcorn earlier today. This fire was my attempt at the "log cabin" style of fire building. Let's just say that both methods that were tried today work really well, if you don't mind having your eyebrows singed off .
Jasper has taken the children to Potosi to do laundry.
6:52p.m.
Ula is throwing rocks into the Mississippi, Nika is eating the last of her avocado slices from dinner, and Jasper is reading a book about silent films. I have a big blister forming on my left index finger. I burned myself on the frying pan while cooking dinner (chili and cheese pot pie).
